Or is it?

Well no, it’s not. I suppose we’ve been due one of these exercises in social media doom as we haven’t had a rumour of Facebook, Twitter, Reddit…. [delete as appropriate] dying for a while.

Where did the rumour start?

Buzzfeed released a report saying that Twitter was going to step away from live / timeline tweets to an algorithm, much in the same way as Facebook directs what it thinks is most appropriate at you, not what is the most recent post.

Alternatives to Google. The rise of DuckDuckGo.

Duck Duck Go logoIt might be the ubiquitous word for searching on the internet, but there are different ways to google (verb: small g not capital G). But why would you want to? You do wonder why anyone uses Yahoo without their anti virus software changing their search engine preferences, but there are advantages to the alternatives.

For designers and SEO purposes, Google still has the lions share of searches (approx. 60%) with Bing, Yahoo, Ask and the others in its wake with the remaining 40%. But that means you still need to focus on the other 40%.

Whenever you read about social media, there is a focus on big business and how they were successful. Our aim is to remove these big ideas, stats and targets and make it something tangible and accessible. Essentially, we remove all the noise and simplify things to make your social media effective.  We encourage our clients to think this way as it’s a more effective (in all measures) way of running social media. Also, you can be more self-reliant. Whilst there are benefits for an external company to run your social media, if the content can come from within the organisation then that is likely to deliver a better message.

When companies start to plan their social media, you start to hear certain words and phrases such as ‘leverage data’, ‘ROI’ or ‘viewability’. Whilst some of these matter, they are often a byproduct of success or something to focus on later as you get more experience. Our aim is…
